Brief History
Since 1988 our family-run school serves the children of our community, with 3 teachers and 4 teaching
assistants to support us. Elri van Heerden, the school principal and grade R teacher, has a four-year
qualification and eight years of experience as a Foundation Phase teacher. She also is a qualified grade R
teacher with twelve years of experience in educating grade R learners and also children with severe learning
challenges. We serve Afrikaans as well as English speaking children.
Vision and Mission
We follow a Christian educational philosophy and strive to develop each child’s physical, emotional and
academic skills optimally and foster a calm, inquisitive mind and a healthy self-esteem. We also aim to support
our parents in every way possible. Our mission is also to keep our children as safe as possible. We have
secure playground supervision and our double entry gates and CCTV camera surveillance assist us in this.
Building Character
We aim to instil respect and love for each other and for the world that we live in. Siembamba is a pro-active,
environmentally responsible school that assists our community in reducing our impact on this planet. We want
to develop a strong sense of responsibility towards all.
